Hello friends,
It’s me—the 1931 Ford Model A Woody Wagon from Oaklea Mansion. Some call me “the Wagon,” others call me “the Woody,” but either way, I carry with me nearly a century of history, craftsmanship, and countless miles of stories. And this past weekend, I got to add another memory to my journey—I rolled proudly into the Big Wheel Bash! 🚙✨
What a day it was! The sun was shining, the crowd was buzzing, and everywhere I looked there were shiny wheels and polished chrome. From towering trucks to sleek sports cars, the event had something for everyone. But I have to admit—I got more than a few double takes as people stopped to admire my classic wooden body and timeless Ford charm.
You see, I’m not just another car on the road. Built in 1931, I represent an era when travel was about family, adventure, and craftsmanship. My maple body and Manila Brown paint remind folks of days gone by, when wagons like me carried families to church, friends to town, and luggage to the train station. Some even say I’m the original “SUV”—built tough, roomy, and ready for the open road.
At the Bash, I loved being part of the mix. Kids pointed with wide eyes, parents leaned in for a closer look, and even seasoned car enthusiasts wanted to hear my story. The best part? Being able to share Oaklea Mansion’s history, too—because just like me, that grand home is a piece of Winnsboro’s living past.
As the day wound down and the engines quieted, I felt proud to be more than just a car. I’m a storyteller on wheels, connecting the past to the present, and reminding folks that history is still very much alive when we bring it out to meet the community.
And let me tell you—what a community it was! I was honored to sit among so many gorgeous vehicles, tractors, and equipment of every shape and size. Each one had its own story, its own shine, its own proud place in history. I may not have been the oldest car there (another Model A at the show took that crown), but I was certainly one of the seasoned veterans—and I couldn’t have been happier to share the spotlight.
Being part of such a vibrant gathering of machines and memories filled me with pride, and I can’t wait for the next chance to roll out and stand tall with my fellow classics.
Until the next adventure,
Woody 🚙🌳
